hello. im planning to apply this year just want to recheck my points.
i need 2 yrs of work experience to be qualified.
Is it necessary that all of your jobs lasted for at least one yr? or its okay to have at least 1 of your jobs to last for one yr?

my first work lasted for 10 months (nurse, hospital A).
and my 2nd work for 1 and a half yr (nurse, hospital B)..

i resigned November and transferred to hospital B november also.

will it be equivalent to 2 yrs( even if my first job did not last for 1 yr) ?? thanks

Hi prmalr,

CRNE is applicable to all provinces in Canada however each province has its own regulating body and assessment guidelines. If your are registered in one of the provinces and wishes to practice in Ontario, you still have to apply to CNO as an "applicant within Canada" and they will send you an application package that will detail all the requirements needed to practice in Ontario. Here's a link that you might want to look up if you are interested to apply in these provinces.

http://www.cno.org/en/become-a-nurse/new-applicants/ (Ontario)

http://www.srna.org/registration/licensure/canadian-rns-requirements (Saskatchewan)

http://www.nurses.ab.ca/carna/index.aspx?WebStructureID=2880 (Alberta)

Hoping this will clarify your queries. All the best.

thanks a lot Ena, very helpful indeed,
one simple question i would like to ask could you please clarify me on that,
ie., for first time CRNE we have to appear the crne exams and ielts- fine after passing this and becoming a RN licensee in canada,
i can practice any where in Canada right?
for example if i pass CRNE from Ontario and become an RN, after that if i wish to apply and work in BC do i have to write any exams in BC and ielts etc again....
silly my question might me... but sheer curiosity make me ask this,
i will go through all the links you have provided, thanks a lot again
God bless

Hi prmarl

I don't think you will be required to take the CRNE again but the English proficiency depends on each province. If you have practiced nursing in Canada for at least 1125 hrs, English proficiency will not be required but you have to show evidence of your practice. If you go through those links, you will find the requirements for each province. A lot of paper works again however, one thing for sure you are not required to take the CRNE again.

Goodluck!!!

Why do you need 2yrs work experience? To do the CRNE or to apply as skilled worker?

I graduated as a reg. nurse in November 2011, from university of apand have been working as a reg. nurse one year before my graduation since it is possible in my country (bachelor degree, 3,5yrs) but have been doing vacancies as a reg. nurse
after 2 years of studying, at medical ward so all in all I have been working in different places for almost 2,5 year, having some weeks off in between. I wonder if they consider the time and vacancies as well..cause I have the experience before my graduation but have been doin the same tasks (iv. medication, cannula insertions, etc.)

Hi!

Anybody who has applied for registration with CNO (Ontario)? Can you please give me their e-mail address where I can contact them for an enquiry? Then, I would like to know whether CNO accepts the General Training Module of IELTS?

Thanks malenurseindia for the response!!!

I have tried that way to no avail. They really require me to contact them in writing since I have already requested said application kit a year ago and I think they don't want to issue another one for me. Now, that I am willing to pursue my application because I'm nearing to visa stamping but having hard time getting in touch with the college. Need to contact them in writing to explain what went on with the initial application kit. Thanks!

Does anybody know if one still needs to take the IELTS for nursing registration purposes if one has taken the nursing program in the US?
I am confused...if you already applied under FSW 1, you already were required to take the IELTS exam?
