Tnx friend, i wasn't able to get a good sleep last nigth bcoz of this haha,,nway, i made up my mind already, now it's either Alberta or Manitoba.

Alberta - because I just have to finished the SEC assessment here and sit the bridging program if ever i will be needing it, i already emailed some organizations that are willing to give financial assistance to new immigrants for this purpose, and some of them actually gave a positive answers. Tnx to you again, it's you who gave me that idea :D :D :D

Manitoba - although my application to CRNM was returned, but since i already applied for IQAS and my CC was already charged with $160, I think it would be smart enough to just apply again in CRNM once I get my visa, and who knows, like juz like the others, i might be given an eligibility to take CRNE as well.

Hi Asitoja

Can you please share the website of organizations that are willing to give financial assisstance to new immigrants. Like the others I'm also scheduled for SEC Assessment and also apprehensive about the Bridging Program. Thanks : :D

Yes sultani, that's a good idea :D :D :D

"Immigrant Access Fund (IAF)

Program Information for 2010

The IAF Society, with the help of Momentum, provides micro loans for internationally trained immigrants to help them gain Qualification Recognition in order to be able to find employment related to their former careers.

1. Purpose of Loan
The IAF loan program was created for immigrants who have little or no credit history and have difficulty accessing other reasonable loans.
The loan can be used to pay for one or more of the following:

 Qualification assessments.
 Short term training, including tuition fees with a recognized post-secondary institution (including on-line courses) & cost of books and course material.
 Examination fees with a professional governing association.
 Living allowance (if required) if not working full time,
 Travel expenses to sit for an exam in another city, if required.
 Professional association fees.
 Other “related” expenses.

2. Eligibility
Loan applicant:
 Is an internationally trained immigrant, including all careers.
 Must be: 1. An Immigrant, 2. Living in Alberta, 3. or either a Permanent Resident, Canadian Citizen or a Convention refugee (protected person).
 Must be 18 years of age and over.
 Must have already researched and worked out training/accreditation plan along with associated costs.
 Must have the appropriate level of English to work in their field in Canada.
 Has a reasonable expectation of obtaining employment in their profession.
 Will not have an un-discharged bankruptcy.
 Understands this is a loan (not a grant) and must be repaid with interest.

3. Terms and Conditions of Loan
 This is a “line of credit” loan and normally does not exceed $5000.
 The annual interest rate is currently 4%, and is fixed for the duration of the loan.
 The term of each loan will vary according to the learning plan of the Borrower. Small payments of at least $10.00 (interest-only payments) are allowed during the training qualification process period if required (up to a maximum of 2 years). Principle and interest payments start after training is complete.
(For example, if you borrowed $5000, your monthly interest charges while in training would be around $17.00 a month. In order to repay the loan over two years, the principle and interest payments would be about $220. You are free to increase these amounts if you wish to repay your loan faster).
 Borrower can request funds once every 3 months. A surcharge of $20.00 is charged for additional funds requested more often that this.
 Borrower is required to keep Momentum informed about their progress and any changes to their contact information (address, email or phone numbers).
 Borrower is strongly encouraged to attend Money Management workshops, offered at no cost, by Momentum. Schedules will be provided when loan approved.

4. Loan Repayment
 Minimum payments commence the month following issue of loan proceeds. The amount will be automatically withdrawn from borrower’s bank account on the 15th of every month. .
 Automatic loan payments will be withdrawn from your account on the 15th of every month. Borrower will ensure there are enough funds to cover payments to avoid NSF services charges, which can be very expensive and affect your credit rating.
 Principle and interest payments will start after training/testing process is complete. These payments will start no later than 30 days after proposed employment commences or 90 days after Qualification Recognition process is complete.
 Borrower is allowed to make payments larger than the minimum required, in order repay loan faster. Occasional lump sum payments or complete one time repayment can also be made, without penalty
 Loans and payments will be registered with Equifax, in order to build credit history.

Application Process
 Develop plan to gain Qualification Recognition in former career.
 Contact program facilitator to discuss plan and loan requirements.
 Gather together required information and complete the application form.
 Wait for approval determination process (process can take up to 2 weeks).
 Once approved, the loan documents are signed and funds issued.
 Proceed with Qualification Recognition plan.
 Begin to make required loan payments as detailed above.

That's what i thought too. My mom is in toronto and she actually encouraged me to apply in CNO instead regardless of the result of the assessment. She's also been told about these loan stuff so she thinks it would be okay if i undergo the bridging program.

Though i applied for CRNBC already.Still waiting for assessment result from CRNBC. :)

I was encouraged by your post in another forum though. You said you liked winnipeg better than toronto, if i'm not mistaken ;)
