Hi everyone...

I'm a Canadian citizen who will be sponsoring my Indonesian wife. I'm currently in Indonesia with my wife, and we're both in the process of completing the application.

If you take a look at this webpage:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp

you will see that it says:

Mailing instruction

Put the completed forms, supporting documents required for your sponsor in a 23 cm x 30.5 cm (9″ x 12″) envelope.
Send your completed application to your sponsor’s Canadian address.

Does the envelope have to be exactly 23cm x 30.5cm?? We have tons of proofs, and we likely need a box....

Our plan is to separate the entire thing into 3 sections:

Envelope 1: my forms and supporting documents

Envelope 2: my wife's forms and supporting documents

PLUS: a box containing all the relationship proofs. Mostly they're in A4 size, weighing around 3,3 kg (7,26 pounds)

Then, those 3 things (envelope 1 + envelope 2 + box), we will put into a box that is big enough to contain the 3. And then we will mail this single box to CPC-Mississauga...

Hopefully that's acceptable??

It really doesn't matter, I'm sure they prefer envelopes over boxes but if you have too much then it's fine. The reason it states that is to keep people from folding their papers to fit into regular envelopes. I've heard of other people sending boxes with no problems at all.

Good luck! =)

That looks like instructions for the applicant in another country to mail their info to their sponsor in Canada... NOT the CIC.

As mentioned, you can mail your app to the CIC any way you like.

Wow..... 3,3 kg ? :o

Yea I thought it was a little excessive too, but hey the more the better I suppose! Worst case senario CIC will just return any extra stuff that they don't want or need.
