My son was the only fsmily left in the Philippines . I didnt get him last yr due for a reason hes still pursuing his Med tech course , he will graduating this October . He is supposed to take his board exam by March 2019 . But i realized it was so hard to be away with him . His age is 22 and wil lturn 23 on March 2019 . Would i be ablel to ask some consideration from immigration to sponsor him ? How is the process . Thank you in advance .

No as your son is 22 years old, he is not considered a dependent anymore. He can try to obtain a study permit and study in Canada. After graduating he can work to obtain experiences so that he can qualify for PR on his own.

He's too old to be sponsored as a dependent. And no - there's no opportunity to ask for consideration. If he wishes to immigrate to Canada, he will have to qualify and apply on his own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry.

Your son doesn't qualify as your dependent the day he turned 22.

Definition of a dependent child as of October 24, 2017

Children qualify as dependants if they meet both of these requirements:

  • they’re under 22 years old, and
  • they don’t have a spouse or common-law partner.
Children 22 years old or older (also known as an overage dependent children) qualify as dependants if they meet both of these requirements:

  • they have depended on their parents for financial support since before the age of 22, and
  • they are unable to financially support themselves because of a mental or physical condition.
