Just wanted to share my experience to help a lot of folks with perhaps an upcoming stressful scenario, landing in Canada
Overall my landing was successful with some small issues mainly with the flight timings, but the entry experience was great with perhaps
a combination of luck and good proactive research. We were a Canadian citizen/returning resident and Philippines COPR.
- When you land if you need to hit up a KIOISK and fill it out make sure to situate the passport properly as the error message insinuates there
might be something wrong with the passport. Just flip it. (Still fill out the KIOSK, as a couple the COPR was able to use the Canadian line since she was with me.)
- I had filled out advance declaration but it for whatever reason only registered for me as the returning resident so had to re-input.
- It was extremely busy but they were getting through folks quick. One note as returning/COPR it seems that the border agents/immigration agents don't align with the government hotlines interpretation as they contradicted each other. Anyway bottom line is the immigration officers didn't care about any of what we had with me since I guess they believed that we were legitimate and never questioned any of our goods. I had no goods to follow so that was that.
- Nervous moments after getting the receipt for your kiosk as the timer starts for random testing. None for us
- At immigration there were 2 folks ahead of us and he asked to confirm the address, if she had been married/convicted of a crime and ever been in Canada before. That was it, 2 minutes later my wife was a resident of Canada.
- I was not secondary searched though we did admit to having some food items in our bags.
Hope it helps feel free to reach out if you want some more details.
