You need the extended WP hard copy to apply for a TRV. I remember one person applied with the WP extension letter and got refused because the officer wanted the new work permit letter.
Yeah that's how usually is but I heard 1 person on fb got approved for 1 year even with their wp application in progress. Do let us know when you get your PR card btw.

Is your former TRV expiring or did you not have one before? I think work permit comes first then TRV. I may be wrong but from what i know is TRV is based on your current status (They match it to your current status), which means they have to issue with expiry of WP. If you apply now, and your current WP is yet to expire, they will issue TRV with final date of the current, even if it is just 4 months or less. This means when you apply new WP, you will need to again apply TRV. Unless its an urgent trip, i'd rather you get WP first, then TRV.
I had it before but didn’t apply for 1 on Marco’s WP thinking that tr to pr will be processed in under 6 months. As you remember, back then ppl were getting PRs in like 2-3 months. We’re the unlucky ones lol. It’s a depression phase since a while
