My spouse, (the applicant), had sent in the spousal sponsorship application in May of this year, 2019, and it was said to be delivered to the case processing centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada on May 14. Neither of us live in Canada at the moment, and a lawyer told me it was fine to apply for sponsorship as long as we plan to live in Canada once my spouse has been approved. Our application is under the ‘Spouse or Common-Law Partner Outside Canada’ category.
It is now August 23, and neither I, (the sponsor), nor the applicant have received any correspondence from the office since. We have also not been assigned a client ID or an application number. It has been over three months now. We are concerned with the status of our application as there has been no answer for quite some time. I read on these forums that other people get an AOR between 6-9 weeks, but ours has well passed 9 weeks and still nothing.
Can anyone please tell me if this is normal to not hear anything at all for this long? We have not even received an email/letter that says they have received our application. We are very very worried at this point!
NOTE: we sent our application through DHL and it said delivered on May 14, 2019.
