Dear All

Say I land on Jan 5 , 2000 get my card and then leave . .

Then I return on Jan 1 2003 and stay till Jan 1 2005 (and apply for PR card renewal since i have done my 730 days) -- - If I leave canada right after applying what will happen ?

It will take IO appx 4 months to process the case so around 1 may 2005 --
A] If they say last 5 years period from date of application ( 1 jan 2005) I fulfill the PR obligation so i should be ok
B] If they look at last 5 years period from final processing date (10 May 2005) I still fulfill PR obligation
Even though I am not in country . ..

So if I have given them a friends address - will they check my PRO and just mail the card to that address, and that friend can courier it to me . . and later I can enter with it ?

If anyone sees any possible issues with this scenario, kindly enlighten -- but since I have fulfilled the PR obligation in ANY rolling 5 year period, then what is the issue ?

Thanks

If you meet your PRO in any rolling 5 year period, there won't be any problems renewing your PR card. The practical issue if you are out of the country is the PR card delivery. I think it's fine if you have the card delivered to your friend's address in Canada then courier it to you overseas. I have no personal experience on this though, so other seniors can correct me if I'm wrong here.

Some time it may go for secondary review and takes more time. Now processing time is 80 days. In some cases They may ask also to collect the card in person.
