Hello everyone,

I need to understand the 2 years out of 5 years rule to maintain PR status. I am the Primary applicant whereas my wife and daughter are dependents. We are currently residing in Canada. My wife and daughter need to travel to home country but I will stay back to complete my 2 years. Is the 2 year rule applicable only to me or the dependents also neet to meet that rule?

The rule applies to everyone individually. Each of you need to live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years to meet the residency obligation.

So yes, dependents need to meet this rule as well - not just you.
