My husband is currently on PGWP expiring in august 2024. This is the extended work permit he got as earlier his passport was expiring in mid 2023, therefore he got his first pgwp till the passport exiry date that is mid 2023. But he had already submitted the extension request to get rest of the pgwp once he renewed the passport. He successfully got his rest 8 months of pgwp now. After few days, government mentioned about 18 months of extra wp opportunity if our permiit is expiring in 2023. We were very confused that is this for us or not because earlier my husband's visa was expiring in 2023 beacuse of passport date ending, but now as we already got the visa extended to 2024, we did not know what to do.
He eventually got an email from canada immigration about the 18 months of opportunity for wp and stating that he he eligible to apply. We applied through the web form. We are waiting for approval or denial (its been 3 months), no way to check the processing as it was a web form. We dont know if the government by mistake send him the email, not seeing that he got his extension till 2024 already.
