dear all,

My consultant has said it in a very polite way that he doesn't know whether i am in or out. yet he is saying that cap might have reached in the first few days of july i.e. as mentioned by forum members. and about people ur talking i believe will will miss our chance because of them.

i hope we make it through. i applied on 17 Jul my app reached 21 Jul i believe it very hard to be in if not i will try for australia because i believe they dont have quota system as yet. i applied via using DD how can i know about my DD status because banks here say that they have no clue wether it is encashed or not.

Ghazi, ur case is almost like mine.. my App. received in July 18th .... Actually I had a bad experience in Australian Immigration ... I applied in July 30th, 2007 and it was processed and going well, but due to the economy recession ,, they have Capped and ceased all applications before Sep. 2007 ... they have stop it after 2 years of processing and reaching the medical ... >:(

Thanks,
Emado

Hi I disagree with you. Austalian Immigration is much tighter than Canadian Immigration, especially if you belong to the finance field. You must first be assessed by the their professional body there say CPA Australia, CIA, etc for a fee and they only accept IELTS Academic withat least band 7 in all skills. This is much difficult than General training. Overall their fees are very high, cut throat fees.

richardo3,

Yes they do have ICT-Business Analyst in the Skilled worker category list & if you are nominated by a state, then you can claim 10 points.
They have raised the IELTS bar recently - either Academic or General is accepted but the minimum points to be claimed is on scoring 7 band for each of the section (10 pts).

Thanks thats good to know, my job doesn't fit though as i am a Senior account manager for an advertising agency, not really Business Analyst material :) IELTS should be at 7, at least! Its a native English speaking country and the IELTS test to get a 7 is not hard plus if you didn't reach that level you would have to learn fairly fast before you went for your first job interview i'd say....

Not sure of your job profile but you can look up the occupations in the Independent skilled worker category.
Its not hard to get a TOTAL band score of 7 or 8 even for a person from a non-englist speaking country but it is seen that scoring a minimum 7 or 8 for EACH section (read W or S) is solely on the examiners discretion & is seen to vary widely (downwards) even for a native speaker.

Something interesting to read ...

Occupation Projection for Canada
Over the 2006-2008 period, this occupation experienced strong job growth and a low unemployment rate, which suggests that there were not enough job seekers to fill all the job openings.

Over the 2009-2018 period, an occupation will be in excess demand (a shortage of workers) if the projected job openings (arising from expansion demand and replacement demand) are greater than the projected job seekers (arising from school leavers, immigration and mobility), while an occupation will be in excess supply (a surplus of workers) if the projected job seekers are greater than the projected job openings. For Human Resources And Business Service Professionals, over the period of 2009-2018, job openings are expected to total 89,301. It is expected that 73,551 job seekers will be available to fill these job openings.

Based on these projections and considering the recent shortage of workers in this occupation, it is expected that there will continue to be a shortage of workers over the 2009 2018 period. In other words, the number of job seekers will continue to be insufficient to fill the job openings. Job openings in this occupation will result from both employment growth and retirements. The rates of replacement demand and employment growth in this occupation will be among the highest of all occupations over the 2009 2018 period. Job seekers will mainly be school leavers and people migrating from other occupations (mobility) and their numbers will be similar to those observed over the past few years.

At the start I was also impatient. But right after I learned I made it to the 500 cap I began to mellow down, partly out of respect for the others who are not even sure if they made it to the cap this year. Right now, I am just celebrating the fact that my cc got charged. But like I said, I'd probably start howling invectives if I don't hear from CIC until Tuesday next week. I literally have some of my stuff packed already. hahaha

When we shall have established ourselves in Canada a couple of years down the road, it would be interesting to go back to this forum and see how crazy we got with out analyses, presumptions, etc.

There are a lot of good guys in the forum. I sincerely hope we make it through.
