Hello all,

I can't find the proper information regarding my question so I'm posting it here.

I have been working as a line-cook in Canada for one year already, (full-time), but I had no prior experience before and my Master's degree is in Marketing.

I just love cooking and got trained two months before I became a line-cook in the restaurant I work at.

Can I still apply through the CEC?

Thank you so much for your feedback,

Cheers

Hi there,

Of course you can, I believe the NOC code for Cooks is 6322. People change decisions and paths all the time in their lives. Just so you know it might raise some questions and concerns, a masters in marketing all the way to line cook is not a very ideal shift, they might ask for more clarification and what not.

Stay here for more inputs from seniors.

Best of luck,

Yes, you can. There is no requirement that the occupation be in the same field as the degree. It has to make sense tho - you can have a degree in marketing and become a cook. But you can't have a degree in marketing and become an engineer or biologist, etc.
