Hi Everyone,

I've got 0 for Human Capital/Canadian Work Experience. My work history is as follows:

from January 2014 to September 2014 worked in NOC4012 (which is skill level A) full time
from October 2014 to present worked in NOC2173 (which is also skill level A) full time

Do I get 0 because I obtained my 1 yr experience in two different jobs?

Thanks

Well, it could be a couple of things. One, under EE, the work experience has to be one 1 of continuous work experience (yes, the two jobs thing). Also, NOC 4012 is a student TA/RA position, and work experience as a student won't be accepted, so you should probably find a different NOC.

I was not a student when I did NOC4012. The electronic system accepts my work experience toward CEC, but it does not give me any points for Canadian Work Experience.

Not saying you were a student. Saying you used a student NOC.

In any case, the real issue is that you need 1 year of CONTINUOUS work experience to get points under EE for Canadian experience. (Yes, this is different from the (former) requirement for CEC Class.

Hi jes_ON,

What's the exact definition of CONTINUOUS work experience ? It might be a stupid question but just came to my mind, if someone had, let's say 2 weeks unpaid vacation or changed department within a company (same NOC, with no interruption) it won't add up?

And it's not only the 40 points, even in skills trasferability factors it affects as well. That's why, I think anybody eligible for CEC under EE with 1 year of Canadian experience from two different NOC code jobs, will always get CRS score of around 370.

Good question. I think at least 1 year continuous work experience pertains to same company & same NOC even you have a short unpaid leave. Not very sure if the leave if 2+ months. Change of dept is fine as long as same NOC.

Logically it makes sense. Even the EE date format is like MMYY, surprising to me, considering the fact that VOs used to be so picky on 1 FULL-year experience criteria .BUT the system is not designed in a way to accept this sorta information.

Anyway I'm more looking for a written document by CIC defining continuous work experience.

Maybe we are missing something because someone could actually be assigned to a new position with a different NOC Code within the same company in 1 year. Does that mean everybody with two different NOC Codes does not qualify for the 40 points? If you have more information on this please share.

Thanks!
