hello,
I wanted to know about work/study options in Canada. I know it might be difficult for me to get a work visa(3yr exp). so 1 year PG is one option suggested to me by a consultant. i am still not sure on what courses to choose. I work in Microsoft Server Support. Is there something relevant that i could do which might be helpful in finding a suitable job after the course?

Hi,

For your visa, it's important to select a course which is compatible/relevant to your prior studies and work, if any.

Based on your qualification and work experience, may be you would like to go for a Master degree course in a University. With a 2 year Master degree course (usually 16 months), you may get a full 3 year PGWP.

What is you previous qualification?
from how long you have been working?
provide some more details.
it seems you were working as system analyst/support engineer in S/W field.

Thanks for the reply :)

After completing X and XII(non medical , 2004), i did Btech(IT) (2004-2008) and after 5-6 months gap joined Microsoft EPS(Nov 2008) as Support Engineer, It's 3 years now and I am the Technical Lead there.We do Server Support(AD, Exchange, Sharepoint..etc).

I am not interested in MBA, and don't have the funds for MS. I believe i could easily crack any interview(had i known any way to apply for the same). Therefore looking for a course in similar technology/field that can help find a job there.

Please let me know if any other details are required

Thanks Again

hi Friend,

if you are not intesrested in MBA and dont have funds for MS then you can go for post graduate diploma in the similar field. Search for the course on College/Univeristy website but I suggest you to try for master level courses, as they hold better values and your VISA chances will be more in case of Master level program.

If you can check for funding available for MS in the Universities(contact professors for available funding in their dept) then it can help you for the fund managment. If money is the constrain then I would say 1 yr of PG is more costly than a year of MS.

1yr PG (tution+living)--> CAD$ 27,00,000 to 30,00,000
MS --> CAD$ 17,00,000 to 20,00,000 /year (funding options open)

I may be wrong but this is what I think.

You will also get some more views from our forum friends. Best luck for selecting course.

Think twice before you finalize the course, as you are investing time and money , your future depends on it.
