Hello, Does anyone know what exactly says the 1 stage approval letter? or has a copy of that.. I got a letter from Immigration but Im not sure if its that..

The letter says something like the following: (I will just post exerpt..

This letter refers to the Application to Sponsor a member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on behalf of (name of spouse).

We are please to advise you that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor..... (it continues on for many paragraphs).

It mentions the specific visa office your file is being transfered to.

Hope this helps....

Rister - is this for inland or outland?

Ohh I am sorry Rister, I should have clarified with you... mine is an outland...:( Sorry!!

Yes - you're looking for the AIP letter.

I'm someone who went outland. So unfortunately I can't help. However I'm sure someone who went the inland route will see this and be able to help.

oks, I just want to make sure that its the AIP letter, so I can apply for work permit... yes hopefully somebody tell me cause the letter doesnt say that is AIP letter or first stage approval... It just says:

It has been determined that you meet the elifibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status as a member of spouse or common-law partner in Canada class...

That definitely sounds like the AIP letter (congrats!). I'm sure someone who can help will drop by soon to comment...

The AIP letter will state clearly you are now eligible for an Open Work permit....or the OWP will be enclosed, if you applied for it at application submission.

I didnt apply for a open work permit... the letter said:

If you wish to work or study in Canada while awaiting finalization of your application, you must request and receive an employment or student authorization. You will need the application kit titled " Changind Ters and Conditions or Extending your stay (visitor, student, worker, temporary resident permit holder"

so is this the AIP letter, ???

Yes it is AIP. Congrats! Can you share your timeline please?

This is quoted from the Inland Processing Manual from the CIC site. You can find it here on Page 44: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip08-eng.pdf
By the looks of things, you were given AIP. You can now apply for an OWP and if you apply by mail, you will receive it in less than a month. CONGRATULATIONS! Could you tell us the timeline of your case such as when you sent it, when it was received, if they asked for documents, when you received AIP, etc? We would all really love to hear all about your journey. Again congratulations, now you just have to wait for the PR interview. Where in Canada are you from?

PRELIMINARY/INITIAL APPROVAL TEMPLATE DRAFT

"This letter acknowledges receipt of your application for permanent resident status in Canada.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident

have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you
and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not
applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you
and all your family members have met these requirements.

If you are not already in possession of a valid work permit or you have a work permit but wish to
work elsewhere, or do not possess a valid study permit and you wish to attend school for more
than six months, you may apply for either or both.

application kits may also be obtained through our Web site at http://www.cic.gc.ca"

Still not 100% sure if this is the AIP letter or not.... No where on the letter does it say anything about my case being approved in principle or anything.

Someone must know what a AIP letter looks like and can help me out.

INLAND AIP letter anyone?

Thanks

OK thanks young love..

The First big paragraph in that template is exactly the same but the rest is different. Maybe I will just call the Call Centre tomorrow to find out for sure.

Once im 100% sure ill give the timelines. Dont want to give anyone false info.

You're welcome. If it says the same thing as in the first paragraph then you are given First Stage Approval. The other paragraphs I am sure are written to suit each personal case. After all this is just the template. Also the manual hasn't been updated since 2006 so I am sure the template has changed some over the years. Congratulations you were given AIP. If you still are unsure, just call. Let us know what they say. Good luck.
