    I have applied and given my biometrics in the US, but submitted my passport in the VAC in my home country. I just had to pay additional fee for doing so. You should be able to request specific instructions from the VAC that is closest to you as to what documents/payments to submit.

    If you are a resident of the country that needs a Canadian visa, then yes you need to get a stamp in your passport. You can contact your nearest VAC to send you the specific instructions for passport submission. They should be able to help you.

    I haven’t gotten my visa stamped in the passport yet as I am about to send the documentation to my VAC soon. Also wouldn’t the study permit date be the date of the arrival to the Canadian airport as that’s where/when we get issued our study permits?

    The ghost update also happened to me the other day but I noticed that my eligibility status actually reversed and now it says it has not started yet (I received AIP previously). Perhaps you had the same change. I have no idea why it changed like that.
