    Small wedding, different cultures

My husband and I got married March 2020, covid times. We're not of the same culture. Our wedding was small, at home with immediate family from his side. We submitted our application in Dec. 2020, interview was June 2021 and he was approved at the interview. His COPR and visa were in his hand...

How long did it take you to find work?

Well, he's a pastry chef...and right now he's working 8 hours a week... he's been applying everywhere but it seems like with his resume and no references it's been a challenge or very limited hours wherever he goes. He will start some volunteer work in the new year but he's really stressed not...

How long did it take you to find work?

As a new immigrant, how long did it take you to find work? What was your first job? My husband has been here 3 months and is having a tough time. He is currently working part time - well, less than part time. I don't know if it's typical or not.

    Discrimination based on ?

It's not discrimination. It's a security risk. I'm sure people have tried to obtain PR to get in to high security work. So, it's just added protection to Canadian citizens. I'd be surprised if all countries don't have the same rules.

    DECEMBER 2020 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

This can really vary depending on the visa office. For example, my husband's VO was Paris. He had his interview on June 30 and received his PPR on July 2.

    DECEMBER 2020 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

I thought my husband's english was good enough too. His tutor says his reading/writing is strongest. I think a lot of his issue is spoken comprehension... I think he himself just needs to slow down and listen. I'm not sure in your city where you would go to get the English assessment, but the...

    DECEMBER 2020 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

My husband had a couple failed attempts at work, because of his English proficiency, but if they had issues they should have noticed that at interview rather than giving him a chance. His english isn't bad, it's fine conversationally, but someone will need to give him patience. He is starting...

    DECEMBER 2020 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

Yes, but this is what shocks me in their processing time. We applied around the same time as you and we had PPR July 5, after a successful interview. I guess based on reading your previous response, there were a few things they likely needed to dig in to on your file. Hope you get that PPR...

HOW TO LINK AN APPLICATION TO CIC ACCOUNT - STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION

This is a neverending glitch with them. I would just keep going back and retrying and eventually I would get in to the page that you have to click "i agree". Just go back, refresh, log in again....you may have to do it a bunch of times.

Trying to determine Paris VAC backlog.

Our Paris file moved quickly. We sent our application December 15, 2020 and PPR was received on July 2, 2021 after interview. ETA: this was for Family Sponsorship.

    Conjugal Sponsorship

I don't think it's necessarily bad news. I've spoken with many Canadian/Tunisian couples and in this kind of situation it just seems standard - often due to cultural differences. I say this, because in our case it seemed like a formality, the questions were not aggressive nor difficult -...

SPOUSAL Sponsorship PAKISTAN @ London Visa Office

I think it will depend on how busy the VO is. Our office was Paris and they notified us one month ahead of time we would be interviewed. We were not put in a queue, just provided the date.
