Work permit delay in visa processing

Thank you! I hope you get the good news soon. After some more digging, I found this: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/entry-requirements-country.html#us-citizens If you’re applying for your first study or work permit We’ll automatically issue you...

Work permit delay in visa processing

My application was approved today. I got the biometrics validity letter, and the correspondence letter (IMM5812), but not the passport request. There's no mention of submitting my passport for stamping before entry in the letter, and it says "If you pass the identity check and meet the entry...

Workpermit processing timelines (applied from USA) & any recent approval

I applied early June and got biometrics done early July. No update since biometrics acceptance. I sent an email to request expedition about 3 weeks ago but no answer.

    Port of entry from US

Quick question - can you go to a POE and apply for a WP even if you have submitted your application and biometrics online? I meet all requirements for a POE application but I applied online back in June. Today I heard from a friend that their friend applied for a WP at POE and got approved...

Work permit delay in visa processing

Has anyone received any response from IIRC about the expedition request re: covid? I sent an email more than 2 weeks ago but haven't hear back anything yet, not even an automated message. My work isn't technically essential due to covid (meaning not related to medicine or transportation) but I...

Work permit delay in visa processing

Congrats, and thanks for the info. I plan to just bring my passport to my local VAC when I get my BVL.

Work permit delay in visa processing

Does anyone know if you can submit passport in a VAC in a country other than the country you applied from? I applied from the US but I'm afraid it will take too long to send my passport to VAC in NY and get it back. I haven't received BVL yet though. (I noticed I have the biometrics number now...

Has any university teacher, professor or postdoc (NOC 4011) received a work permit since covid (after March 2020)?

I'm in the same boat. I applied from the US, complete application early July, and stuck in the 'processing background check' status. So frustrating that I can't start working even though everything is already done remotely.

Work permit delay in visa processing

My work permit application was submitted early June (from US) and I completed the biometric early July. I see that people who applied from US who got their biometric completed later in July are getting approvals. Perhaps this is based on the order of submitting application, rather than the...

Work permit via port of entry with LMIA exemption

Thank you very much for your response! I think I will apply online, for the track my employer told me to follow (LMIA- exempt with 2-week processing), not using the treaty. I can only hope that they will process my application as soon as possible.

    Biometrics

That's really great to know! I think it might be realistically a quicker way to get my work permit, even with the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon entry into the country before I can go to the VAC to give biometrics, than to wait until the VACs in the US to reopen and clear a (potentially...

    Biometrics

Does anyone know if you must give biometrics in the country where you applied for work permit? I'm currently applying from the US, and I was thinking of flying to Asia just to give biometrics (because I can enter one of the countries where VACs are open and taking biometrics appointments). I...

Work permit via port of entry with LMIA exemption

Thank you for your reply! I did some research: 1) You're right, it's my job category that fall under LMIA-exempt, not the skill level. I got the two confused. 2) I was under the impression that eligible foreign workers can apply for work permits at certain ports of entry because I saw "Only...

Work permit via port of entry with LMIA exemption

I'm preparing my work permit application using form IMM1295E. I have the job offer and I'm supposed to start as soon as possible. I'm applying from the US (temporary residence) but I'm a Korean citizen. I have three questions: 1) What document do I need to show that I'm LMIA-exempt? My employer...

Applying for 2-week processing during Covid-19?

Thanks for your reply! My employer told me that the 2-week processing (through global talent stream it was called) didn't take more than a month for other foreign workers there, so I wasn't too worried, until Covid-19 happened. I wonder if anyone has been successful getting their work permit...

Applying for 2-week processing during Covid-19?

Hi there, I'm applying for a work permit, for the 2-week processing track with LMIA exempt. I'm applying from the US but I'm unable to submit my application because I don't have all my documents yet. I was counting on the 2-week processing track so I can apply early May, give biometrics right...
