    Passport application from the US

I recently received my Canadian Certificate of Citizenship and want to apply for a passport, but I'm a bit confused about something. I live in Illinois so I went to their web site to get instructions for how to apply for a passport from the US, and one of the items it requires is: any valid...

    Good news and bad news

I don't need to take the oath. Or at least if I do, they never said anything about it. I'm a birthright citizen.

    Good news and bad news

Yeah, I went on the tracker online and they said it had been mailed about four weeks previous. Since the post office didn't yet have my forwarding address, it had certainly been returned to sender already.

    Good news and bad news

It's an apartment complex. I called them yesterday. They don't have it. So it probably went back to the post office, and because they didn't have my forwarding address until this week, they likely already returned it to sender.

    Good news and bad news

There was no oath ceremony. I was getting a certificate of citizenship because my father was born in Canada, and I only learned in 2020 that I get birthright citizenship because of that. I mailed in my application in 2020 and when I bought a house in May, I filled out the change of address...

    Good news and bad news

So the good news is that I logged on to the portal today and I saw confirmation that my citizenship was approved and they mailed out my certificate! Bad news, they sent it to the wrong address even though I filled out the form in May to update my address... And, long story, I wasn't able to...

Establishing Canadian Citizenship By Descent As An Adult

Thanks for the info. My color printer decided to go to the Great Office in the Sky so I will probably have to go to the UPS Store to get the pics printed. I'm thinking I might just be able to use the UPS Store address and name.

Establishing Canadian Citizenship By Descent As An Adult

I don't need to pay someone else to do it -- I don't want to spend money on it when I have the equipment and software to do it myself. I need to know what to write on the back if I take it myself.

Establishing Canadian Citizenship By Descent As An Adult

Rackinfrackin... Got my package returned because I didn't put the date on the back of the photo. Does anyone know if I can just send the same packet and proof of payment back but with updated pics or do I have to reprint the entire thing? Also, it says I also need to write the "studio" and...

Establishing Canadian Citizenship By Descent As An Adult

Thanks for the info. I do know my dad is a dual citizen, as he worked in Montreal for a time (he'd fly there on Monday then back to the US on Friday -- road warrior level: over nine thousand). I'm going to have to apply, I think -- in my line of work, being able to work in Canada would open a...

Establishing Canadian Citizenship By Descent As An Adult

I only very recently learned about this law and if I am, indeed, a Canadian citizen, I think I would like to apply for a passport. My question is whether birth of a parent in Canada makes the citizenship automatic. My unique situation is that my dad was born in Canada and is a dual citizen...
