Just received an email stating my husband's status had changed. Low and behold, on April 22nd a decision was made and COPR was granted! HOLY SCHMOKES. What a relief! It all seems rather unbelievable, actually. Hang in there everyone! :)

It doesn't matter which section or sub-section of the IRCC the officers or the agents are employed by....all factions are under pressures due to staffing levels. It still doesn't make sense to make a call to an 'agent' to confirm the arrival of your application when tracking numbers do the same...

Many government agencies are under extreme pressure these days due to the lack of staffing levels and that includes IRCC. By adding more pressure to an overburdened system and their workers, without direct benefit just seems silly to me. What do you aim to gain, to take out your frustrations on...

So your received a temporary file number by calling multiple times? And if so, how, may I ask, has a temporary file number helped you with your application? Did it speed up the process? What?

I honestly don't understand what calling will do for anyone's situation, let alone multiple calls! How is that helpful? We have all had to wait, every single one of us, especially during these unprecedented times! Patience is a virtue and harassing immigration officers for information they don't...

All they said was to upload scans of his passport pages.

We had assumed IRCC would know because my husband applied for a visitor extension (visitor record) back on July. Apparently we shouldn't assume. The passport request letter came from Canada: Family Class Unit.

How do we inform them?

Another question, my husband now has an emergency appointment with the German consulate to get his passport renewed (at least get the process going)....should we upload the appointment document to the IRCC? Also, how plausible is it that the IRCC already knows that my husband is in Canada...

The only possible issue I read about (if memory serves me correctly) was the potential for substance abuse which may cause a burden to Canada's medical/social system.

I would say it makes sense, considering (it seems) the majority of PR applicants are from India.

What country are you/PA from? Inland? Outland? Dependents? Etc....etc.....There are many variables to consider.

The doctor will ask you if you are a drug user and look for signs of needle marks, etc. anyway. So you might as well be honest even if they don't specifically test for drug use via urine sample (which I suspect they do).

This may sound like a silly question, but is this PPR? I know it is a passport request but is it THE passport request?

This is a poignant but vital decision by Canada for the safety of Canadians and foreign nationals. Health and safety....is there anything more important these days?! I am so grateful for my husband's ability to stay in Canada and for our ability to keep isolated at home, in our rural community...

Thanks for helping to clear up our confusion! Both you and armoured really alleviated some anxiety on our part. That's exactly what we did, we uploaded his current passport and will get a better night's sleep tonight Goodbye 2020!

You know what...we have had a few sleepless nights over this and now I'm thinking you are absolutely correct in that we are making a mountain out of a molehill! My husband's passport is still valid and he has done everything as required and passed all of the PR hurdles, why would IRCC take issue...

Congratulations! Was it a request to mail your passport to the VO or was it an upload via your online account?

Yes, isn't that a scary thought. After all of this time to be denied at the border for re-entry would be a horrible fate to face.
