Definitely take the NPPE as soon as you’re ready. APEGA provides two recommend text books on their website, plus some other materials: https://www.apega.ca/apply/membership/exams/national-professional-practice-exam-nppe/study-materials Some companies also offer courses. I would wait to take...

Take the exam as soon as you are ready. It’s not a difficult exam, but you’ll want to study first. I don’t really see any benefit in waiting if you have the time to study for it now.

P.Eng APEGA (Professional Engineers of Alberta) review timeline

I think this is difficult to really judge, since usually people only go through the full process once and just transfer their P.Eng to other provinces through the separate transfer process Alberta tends to have quite long reviews because there are so many applicants. So you might have better...

Congratulations Sumeet! I am happy to see how quickly APEGA approved your application after you passed the FE exam.

Thanks! Yes, the Experience Examiners will appear as two separate lines after the Internal Review line. My internal review started at the beginning of July and took 4.5 months. During that whole time it just showed Internal Review In Progress. Since your’s started at the end of November I would...

Thanks Roberto I wasn’t assigned any exams. Examiner 1&2 refer to the Experience Review. The people who do this review are called experience examiners - sorry this was a bit misleading. Academic review is not required if you went to a CEAB accredited school. If you are an EIT, you have already...

Hi all, I received an email from APEGA this week saying I am now a P.Eng. Quite surprising to me because I was Case to Board for April, but I’ll take it! The key completion dates for my review were: Application Submitted - April 2019 All VRFs and VORFs - July 2019 Internal Review - November...

Hi Traveler, You don’t need an EIT to claim work experience under a P.Eng. Having an EIT is beneficial because it proves to employers that you meet the academic requirements. It also speeds up your application for P.Eng because they won’t redo your academic review.

Sorry to hear your application was deferred. If the reassessment is unsuccessful, it might be worth paying someone to review your CBATs before you submit your application. I think Practice PPE Exams reviews applications. If I had known how long the application process takes I might have done...

I think your mileage may vary, but for me it took 4.5 months to get past the internal review for a P.Eng application. There seems to be a very long queue. I expect it is the same for a non-CEAB EIT application.

Congratulations on passing the FE exam. Hopefully they don’t take too long to review, since you’ve already been through the queue once! Case to board is normal. The board of examiners reviews every application once a month and they make the final decision. You won’t know if you need exams until...

I would contact them. After I submitted my application I waited two months without getting a coordinator assigned but as soon as I contacted them one was assigned immediately. It was very frustrating.

Well I guess I can answer my own question. My application has now moved from internal review to experience examiner. There was no email for this transition. Internal review took me 4.5 months.

Has anyone seen their Internal Review status change from In Progress to Complete and then back to In Progress the next day? This happened to me last week. Does APEGA send out an email at the completion of each review stage?

You need to have one year of Canadian work experience under a P.Eng to apply as either a professional member or a licensee, so it doesn’t sound like you qualify for either. The difference is the PR card - without it you have to apply as a licensee. It does sound like you qualify for an EIT...

I contacted APEGA the other day to ask for the status of my application which has been showing as in internal review for 3 months. As per their response they are currently processing applications sent to review in May. So the current wait period is 4-5 months before they even start the review.

I don’t imagine it hurts to reach out to APEGA and ask for an update. Based on what I’ve seen on this forum, two months is a long time for experience review.

Sort of. You need to get 65 graded questions correct. The exam has 110 questions, but only 100 or so are actually graded. So you need to get at least 75 questions correct to guarantee passing, but could pass with as few as 65 questions correct.

Hey 123settogo, Has your application moved out of internal review? Mine went into internal review on July 4th, and it is still there.
