What does the AIP say? Is it a letter stating you're approved? Or eligibility passed?

Yes. They have informed me that submitting online is the fastest way to have the documents reviewed.

We are waiting still. But our background check request came Jan 8th. Had to request police cert from Colombia and they have sent it to the Canadian embassy there, but we do not have visibility anymore until IRCC receives it from the embassy unfortunately. Security check = background check?

When I spoke to them over the phone regarding our background check documents, they said you can use both methods. However, submitting it online is the quickest way to deliver it and have it processed. The agent said mail may add more time the the overall process. So I recommend submitting them...

We applied from Alberta. I see some folks in the July and August applications who applied from Alberta receiving their request for background check already, so a bit worried! If anyone has any more information on this, would be great if you can share it! Thanks all.
