You should have gotten a submission confirmation email when the application was sent. I received mine from noreply-pasderepondre@citapply-citdemande.apps.cic.gc.ca

Is the US visa considered a travel document and should it be added to the application? Or do they only want passports?

The PR card processing time seems to vary quite a bit for some persons. I got my card in just under 2 weeks. But I've seen cases on this forum where people are waiting for over 2 months.

Thanks for the quick response. I resigned from the company on Dec 31 but the period I am claiming for ends in 2014. I think that may be the issue. I will write to them to explain that. I have also requested additional payslips from the company. Hopefully, that is enough to answer their questions.
