Canadian Government's definition of immediate family?

Hello, yes we did! My fiance landed yesterday. He originally wasn't going to be allowed to board the plane when they thought he just had his COPR, but when they learned he was my immediate family he was able to board. We're now happily in Vancouver self-isolating.

I will absolutely let everyone know what our experience is like and if we are allowed to travel. Our flight is on Sunday at 1:25 GMT so I will comment/create a post as soon as I can.

Canadian Government's definition of immediate family?

Thank you so much for your quick and concise response, canuck_in_uk. As you seem quite knowledgeable about many things in this forum, would you recommend we take proof of our cohabitation with us to the airport to reduce the risk of problems?

Canadian Government's definition of immediate family?

Thank you very much for your message Buletruck. We have lived together in the UK for 1.5 years, and for a year prior to that in Canada. Based on this, I believe we meet the common-law definition.

Canadian Government's definition of immediate family?

Hi everyone, There have been many posts about COPR-holders entering Canada with the new travel ban, so I apologise for creating another one! I know that it remains unclear if COPR-holders are permitted entry right now if they are not an immediate family member of a Canadian citizen, but does...

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

Because you reside in a Visa-exempt country, you will need to submit a photocopy of your passport using the CIC website. However, you will likely need to mail in two passport photos even if you provided them with the initial application. They will send you a COPR letter through your CIC...

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

Yes, you do need to provide additional photos and scans of your passport. Provide exactly what the letter requests, even if it's something you've already submitted. I'm not sure what they do with the ones you submit as part of the application, but they wouldn't ask for it if they didn't need it...

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

This is normal and is actually requested specifically on the application. It asks for a maximum of 20 photos in different locations and at different times of you and your spouse/partner. It sounds like they're asking for it now because you missed it on the application.

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

This seems to be quite normal. This happened with my fiance's application--the one website was updated with "Decision Made" on Friday night and we then had to wait all weekend for GCKey to be updated on the Monday! GCKey will be updated once you (or the principal applicant) receives their PPR...

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me! I received my passport request on 30 September. I am from a visa-exempt country (UK) so I don't need to mail my passport in, I only need to submit a photocopy through my online account. However, when I log into my account, there's no option to...

    JULY 2019 *OUTLAND* SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

Hi everyone! I logged into the online services website and under "Permanent Residence Application Status" it says Decision Made! We haven't received an email or any other updates, so we'll now just spend the rest of the weekend wondering... Good luck to everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hello again, I contacted IRCC using the online form asking to confirm that the biometrics were received. I haven't received an email update, but when I checked the online account today, my account was updated to say the biometrics were completed.

Hi rhgbcan, I've been checking the IRCC secure account site (not sure if there's another name for it), the one I use my GCKey to sign into. I'm going to contact them to confirm it was received, so I'll keep you updated and let you know what they say.

It seems like it can take anywhere from 45-90 days to receive AOR1 on average. You're still within this timeframe so I wouldn't worry too much just yet, especially if your representative already spoke with CIC. I hope you receive it soon!

    Family Class Bridging Visa

Hi everyone, I think I know the answer to this question, but I've exhausted all other options so I just want to double-check before I write it off. I met my British fiancé in Canada where he was on a two-year Working Holiday Visa. At the time that his Visa expired, we were not yet eligible to...
