Apparently not. Some people just went in and requested express. Depends on the agent working at Service Canada i guess.

Went to Service Canada again today, and my certificate was able to be validated! So they took the application this time. However, my citizenship application still appears In Progress (ECAS Decision Made though). The mystery continues... they gave me a date to pick up the passport next week.

I got through to IRCC this morning. Apparently, it is not uncommon for the applications to remain "in progress" after the oath. They sent in a request to finalize the final. They said that Sydney Office might re-send me a new Certificate. I'll be flying out next Friday. Let's see how it plays out.

I emailed both the oath people and local office and nobody responds. That's why I wanted to get a lawyer involved to get a response from the government, as they do not respond to me. Not sure where else I can submit a complaint or a request.

Hi there. I got my citizenship certificate in the mail last week, but ircc still didn't update it on their portal. So, when I went to service canada to apply for my passport, they don't accept the application, because once the barcodes at the back of the certificate are scanned, they cannot...

If they still don't have my info on service canada by the end of next week, do you think I should get an immigration lawyer?

The worst part is, nobody is answering the calls and Service Canada says if they can't validate it on the ircc portal, then they can't accept the application. I submitted a complaint to Service Canada, because ircc does not even respond to webforms if they are not urgent.

It took about 8 days. But I guess without the closure of the online application portal, I cannot apply for a passport.

I got a ghost update today on the application tracking website (not ECAS). Ghost update because there is no actual information related to the update, but the last update was dated as of today. I sent a few emails and a webform. Not sure if this update came after I sent out these things.
