I'm also wondering about this. Just received my husband's police check from the Japanese Embassy in Vancouver. The embassy says it's invalid if we open the envelope, but the IRCC instructions are to scan and upload a copy... Did you find the correct way about it? Thanks for any help!

I've also been wondering about this. As for now I (Canadian citizen) filed my own taxes and I reported my marital status but didn't include any information about his income (which is $0 in Canada), nor did we submit anything for him. We've applied in-land and he's still waiting on his OWP.

I would include any job that was "on the books" even if it was just for a short period of time. It's fine to have a long list of previous employment - we did for sure!

When I checked the Canadian government website it gave specific instructions for the country (in our case Japan) and also whether or not the person is living in that country. In our case we can get it through the Japanese embassy/consulate here in Canada.
