False alarm: Just hung up with IRCC and was told the update was actually a denial of our request to separate the files. As this option was suggested by IRCC themselves, it is indeed a joke now. Beyond frustrating.- m34

No we did not get a formal answer. However, in the gcms notes we ordered a few months later revealed a note that indicated that the seperation request could not be entertained as spouse is in security check stage. We got the standard reply today that my wife’s application is non routine and it requires more time. They indicated that mine is completed but considered non routine pending the completion of my wife’s application. Weirdly they (IRCC) suggested that we can have the files separated allowing...- m34

I didn’t notice that, but you’re right. It just shows how broken the system is! 328K applications pending—wow, that must be an all-time record. To put things into perspective, Australia currently has around 56K outstanding applications, and they received 24K new applications in July alone...- m34

“We need more time to process your application.” Finally, March 2025 applicants gett this message! :) Based on the latest update, around 3K applications from before March 2025 were processed, which is pretty consistent with last month. I’d expect this number to gradually decrease each month...- m34

I agree with the last point - not sure how the background screening works but after an additional 24 months or so, what is ircc waiting for from 3rd parties on security check? Its like they give themselves this 24 months period to check if anything pops up - if it doesnt within this timeframe...- m34

The latest monthly data is out. Around 3.3K applications submitted before March 2025 were finalized, but nearly 40K pre-March 2025 applications are still outstanding. The overall processing time is now listed as 12 months, yet the IRCC processing time tool still suggests we're about two months...- m34

None. Again still seeing a lot of movement for Q1 2024 applicants who are either waiting for oath or had done it already. Their backgrounds wrapped up around April of this year, suggesting that the full background screening is taking 24 months. More than convinced now that we will need to wait...- m34
