CBSA confirmed that online classes are NOT an essential reason to travel

They are all from Nigeria and got their permit at Toronto. The only denial I have been hearing is not from CBSA but from the airlines. They are not turning those who have their visas back before the stipulated time. It’s just the airline. I know more than 5 that arrived Canada yesterday via...

CBSA confirmed that online classes are NOT an essential reason to travel

I guess it hasn’t been happening here though. People have been leaving for studies. It’s not about believing what I hear, it’s what I know. They were all allowed to enter without any questions.

CBSA confirmed that online classes are NOT an essential reason to travel

International students have been entering and nothing has happened. I know more than three. They just looked at the visa and asked about their places of self isolation. If the airline isn’t boarding, it is the airlines problem. It has no affiliation with CBSA.

Online classes for fall 2020 needs study permit approval?

There’s nothing like this on the website. You are not to begin your program without an approval. Starting classes has no bearing on your application and the time spent would not be included during PGWP. It’s better to get your approval before starting online classes.

International Students (approved before 18) need an 'essential' reason to travel to Canada.

Yea by first week of August. It’s best to postpone travel until August as leaving now makes such travel non-essential. Imagine paying rent and feeding when there’s no job.

International Students (approved before 18) need an 'essential' reason to travel to Canada.

My classes are online but I’m not planning to have them in my home country because of time differences, data consumption and network issues. I was approved in 2019 so it’s by August I should be leaving.

International Students (approved before 18) need an 'essential' reason to travel to Canada.

They are turining back people who are come to Canada for fall session in June/July. You have nothing to do there that early. She specifically asked me what month I’m coming in and I said August. And she said provided your courses have been registered and your visa was granted before March 18...

International Students (approved before 18) need an 'essential' reason to travel to Canada.

I just spoke to an agent at CBS and she confirmed that international students who have gotten their visas before 18 March wouldn’t be refused entry provided you have a place to quarantine for two weeks and have registered for your courses. So you can travel.

International Students (approved before 18) need an 'essential' reason to travel to Canada.

When you go to their quarantine act, non discretionary or non essential purposes does not pertain to study. It pertains to tourism, recreation and entertainment. This is duly provided under the website too. Study is an essential travel. Thus, international students can enter Canada. If they do...
