    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

Given that the average is still stated as 12 months, I imagine the vast majority of us are still waiting. Hearing from the lucky few on this forum distorts the perception of the average timeline. We all wish we were that 2 percent that got it early.

No hard feelings, and glad you got your DM already. I just disagree with the analysis -- just trying to set expectations, and why if you just follow this forum you might get wrong expectations. Just because you and handful that post in this topic were the 'early' acceptees, does not mean the...

    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

I'm not sure I agree that 'most' July applicants got DM in 7-8 months. Some have. There's just a sample bias as only those that got it that early post on here. The majority, I suspect, doesn't post to say nothing has changed.

Perhaps with your application, but in our case we sent the PCC with our initial application, and we shouldn't have to submit fingerprints. As there was no other information with this change, it could mean many different things. However, if it appears that many individuals have this status...

    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

Hi Wallbr, I have no idea. Since you're in the same boat, it gives me some hope that it might be procedure and not exceptional.

Perhaps someone else can better chime in on this. We sent our police certificate with our initial application. I would imagine that is the case, but don't know.

If memory serves me right, don't they require a police check for Canada if you've lived here more than 6 months?

    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

I hadn't checked my cic account in a few days and it was updated in two sections: 1. Review of additional documents: Now states "We need additional documents to process your application. We will send you a letter or email with details." 2. Background check: Now States "We are processing...

    GCKEY question

If you scroll to the bottom of that page is there a link to a .pdf letter? Did they otherwise send you an e-mail or a letter by mail? If you submitted a paper application you cannot view it online . For all of us it says the same thing.

To apply for a SIN you need to take the original OWP certificate you receive in the mail (usually around 1 week after you see your acceptance online) to a Service Canada office: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/tbsc-fsco/sc-hme.jsp along with your passport.

    Passport validity

Why not rush order a new passport for your son? Most countries allow you to keep the old expired passport (marked as invalid). You could then notify CIC of the change, and at worse bring both passports.

Question regarding OWP & AOR during PR Sponsorship.

We linked our OWP using the applicant's name and birthdate, passport info and setting residency to 'Canada'. You can do it without the OWP application number.

Child Benefit for outside Canada Parent

The issue isn't so much about renting, it's about residency. I spoke with the CRA department responsible for for administering the CCB last week for almost an hour. They were pretty friendly, phone number: 1-800-387-1193. No point trying to defraud CRA, more likely to blow up in your face...

    Spouse sponsership steps?

Ah? I just search 'timeline outland' and this came up: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/2018-outland-timeline.545300/ From there, you can see the many steps and time it took those applicants in February 2018. More recently, you could follow this thread...

    Spouse sponsership steps?

Inland or Outland? Easiest way is to look at the posts in the forum from earlier months and/or at the signature of earlier applicants.

Depends on the benefit and the province. For example, in and of itself, OWP does not make you eligible for provincial health insurance in Quebec (you'd also need a six-month full-time contract, and a CSQ). For some provinces (e.g. B.C.), it is apparently sufficient. What the OWP definitely lets...

Child Benefit for outside Canada Parent

I've just had a long and winding discussion with CRA about child benefits and applications. The big question is who the woman is, due to the female presumption rule. If it is a same sex couple, I have no idea how it works. If your friend is a woman, then very likely yes, they can apply as the...
