Yes, you must be in Canada. They reiterated this during the oath ceremony itself. It also states this in the invitation to the Oath Ceremony and asks you to contact them immediately if you won't be in the country on the scheduled date.

That's how it happened with us. Ghost update a couple of days before the tracker displayed the rescheduled date. Still no invite but the phone-line agent said to expect it over the next few days, and to call 1 week before the oath date if no email is forthcoming.

Oath date moved from May 5th to May 16th via tracker. No email yet from Montreal office.

Dear Admins: Please update our spreadsheet. Our Oath Ceremony has been rescheduled from May 5th to May 16th. For those in similar circumstances, the change appeared as an update on the tracker, but no email invite as yet.

FWIW, we got a Status Tracker notification for a May 5th oath ceremony, but no instruction email. So, we called the IRCC. The very kind agent told us to call 1 week before the date, in case there was any further info. But, she also said that, if it were to be cancelled, we might or might not...
