Thread for 2019 - 2020 - Dependent Child sponsorship Applications

Got COPR for my son today! Do I need to manually apply for SIN number, or will that come in the mail / further downstream in the process? When I landed, they just issued it to us. Great day!

Thread for 2019 - 2020 - Dependent Child sponsorship Applications

Hi, I just got a CSQ for my son's sponsorship today from Quebec. Should I send a copy to CIC somehow to speed up the application or will Quebec take care of all that? If sending it myself is recommended, what is the most efficient way? Thanks!

Thread for 2019 - 2020 - Dependent Child sponsorship Applications

Hi, my son's family class sponsorship application was delivered on August 5th, but I haven't heard anything back. I was expecting mail or an email. Is it normal to take this long? I've tried linking the application online but it never finds a match. Thanks for any advice. Seems like most...

    Vehicle Import Process - Quebec

I just got my RIV inspection done... approved. What do I do from here? I believe Quebec has their own mechanical inspection I must do before registering the car, and I also have to wait for something in the mail from RIV? Thanks for any advice.

    Settling requires accompanying goods?

We were planning to move from US to Canada in May. It is looking very unlikely at this point because of SARS-CoV-2 border restrictions. I'm wondering about moving later in the summer now because if we wait much longer, we're pushing the envelope on being able to renew our PR cards down the...

RAMQ Coverage for Permanent Resident's Dependent Child

My family is likely moving to Quebec from the US this summer. One of our children was born outside of Canada after we received our PR cards. When we move to Canada, we will initiate a family class PR sponsorship application for him, but it looks like the family class PR processing time is 10...

Keeping my US job but living in Canada as PR

Hi, can I just stay on my US company's payroll as a full employee with benefits while living in Canada? Or do I need to have them treat me like a subcontractor and pay me hourly?

Residency Requirement for Dependent Children on Citizenship Application

Are dependent children held to the same residency requirement as their parents for citizenship application approval? For example, an adopted child that became a permanent resident say 1 year after his parents? Could parents include him on citizenship application even if he hadn't been there...

Passport Submitted and waiting on CoPR and bad pictures

Hi all. My family of 3 had our pictures and passport copies delivered on Jan 31, and now it seems we are the some of the few people still waiting for our application to be approved at CPC Ottawa. It has been 12 days, and most people's apps are processed much quicker than that -...

Canada stiffens sentences for drunk driving, raising new immigration concerns

For what it is worth, my wife had her sentence converted through a similar type of diversionary first time offender program, and we still ended up getting PPR request today (after much hand wringing, I should add). I think there is some discretion afforded to the officers in cases like this.
