Landing Experience - Toronto YYZ July 2018

I vaguely remember that they asked me how much cash I am carrying...vaguely..can't quite remember if it was on this trip or the previous trip to Canada. It was probably too chill of a question that didn't register with me at the time.

Landing Experience - Toronto YYZ July 2018

You might still be able to get your SIN on the same day. But your landing paperwork will surely be done on the same day. Yes, that's what I was told.

Permanent residence - taxation of non resident - working abroad

Rob, I'll soon become Canadian PR. I currently work in the US and am not planning to move to Canada till I find a job that suites me. It will probably take a few months to a year. Before I move to Canada for good, am I considered non-resident for tax purpose? Since I will not likely have income...

A valid permanent resident visa on a soon expired passport

Yes I’d also recommend a soft landing. You’ll get a SIN and can apply for the PR card right away. Sooner is always better. The only con I can think of is a pricey round trip ticket from China...
