    Immigration from USA to Canada

Hi Jami, I live in Nova Scotia currently and moved here Jan 2019 (PR/family status). I am now also attending one of the Universities in Halifax and I will say that education and cost of living here is far LESS expensive. You could consider checking out the local universities and potentially...

COPR questions and importing car from US

Sorry, I just saw this. Hopefully, they won't give you a hard time at the border when you drive it, but when I landed without the vehicle, they had me write down the vin # on the unaccompanied goods to follow page because it shows that I already owned it and planned on bringing it later. I may...

COPR questions and importing car from US

We have a Jetta and owed about $7k on it when we decided to move. We had to pay it off to receive the title first. Once we had the title we had to go to our province motor vehicle registry website (NS) and fill something out and pay a fee first and you will print that off. You will also need...

    Landing without getting SIN

You can definitely land anywhere. I did my soft landing at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel a few weeks before moving to NS. I flew in to Detroit, rented car, went to border, provided list of goods to follow and all documents and when done, I walked over the the SIN office and got that done. Then I...

    PR card has never arrived

We landed in ON and I used my in-laws address on the landing documents, then moved to NS and bought a home. I had to go into the CIC account and change the address first but we received our cards 2 months after arriving. They may just be backed up. Do you need the card for something, or more...

Anyone use a Moving Service (US-Canada)

Hi, I used PODS to move from CO to NS and to be honest, I would not recommend using them! The question would be, how much are you moving cross-border? If you plan to drive your goods, I hear using Uhaul is the best option. I don't know anyone who has used a large transportation company to move...

I am assuming you are doing this inland not outland, correct? How long have you been married and were either of you married previously? This has to do with the amount of proof you will need typically. You said E-transfers for financial proof.... Is that saying someone sends you money or you...

Questions about finally moving to Canada

When you did your original soft landing in 2016, did you provide a "goods to follow" list?? If not, it is possible to be taxed on an goods you bring into Canada upon moving. If you get your health card you can provide any address you want to use and they will ask if you are living in Canada...

    Moving to USA

It could. you would need to know if the country where you are a citizen allows you to hold more than 1 or 2 citizenship. Also, what class were you under for PR status in Canada to begin with? In the US, you will need tons of proof that your relationship is legit.

    Short landing for PR card

    1. Where you enter has no effect on where you plan to live. I landed in Windor, ON and now live in Halifax, NS. 2. I flew to Detroit the morning of Dec 18th, drove to the Windsor border to do my soft landing. It took maybe an hr or less, then the officer pointed me to a building where I was...

Transferring U.S. license to Ontario and using is for few months in U.S.

Yes, you can drive in the US with your Canadian license. My husband actually kept his DL from ON and lived in the US for 5 years on Green Card and NEVER changed it since it doesn't expire until this year. We just moved to Canada last month and now it is my turn to get a DL in Canada.

Is there any restrictions to entering in Canada for PR stamping from USA through air travel?

No restrictions. I landed yesterday at the Windsor ON border then flew back to Denver same day and my 14 yr old son will land in Halifax next week by air. It shouldn't take more than an hour for paperwork.
