Yes, the process is the same... you should just wait in the pool. But one disadvantage as per what I think is time. If you are in pool after your expiry, say March 2023 and you get an ITA in Jan 2024... your work experience from March 2020 - Dec 2020 will not be counted as it is more than 3...
