    Changing IDs during the process

My husband's DL and health card were updated during our application. He brought only the current ones to our interview and had no problems.

Oath Timeline after test at Montreal Office

You need more posts before you are allowed to add a signature. Maybe 10 altogether? There will be more ceremonies added in July, but there are also ceremonies scheduled that aren't listed. Then, the location is a factor in how many ceremonies there are per day. Our ceremony was at the CIC...

Oath Timeline after test at Montreal Office

Congratulations! That's been a long wait. Yes, you can bring a diaper bag and camera. There are restrooms near the waiting area. Once you're in the oath room, you shouldn't leave until the ceremony is over, or they may not let you return. You are allowed to take a picture when you receive...

How to skip the language requirement

Never heard of this. Where did you learn it? A quick search showed nothing but actual doors. I only speak English, and I live in Montreal. I have had a hard time learning French, so I can sympathize. I can read and write a little, but I can't hear it very well. I was taking classes, but since...

    Test...what do you wear?

Dress for the interview. No need for a suit, but you want to give a good impression.

Worried About Renewing PR Card and Applying for Citizenship

It's up to you, but if you have no plans to leave Canada, you do not need to renew your PR card. We applied with expired PR cards and did not receive the RQ.

Photocopy of PR card and identification

Don't know if it would be a problem. Change your scanner settings so that it's scanning at the highest quality. That may be why your scans aren't clear. Is your scanner set to scan a photo or document? Check other settings that may cause changes in size. I have a scanner/printer. I used it...

    Urgent question

If your application did not include minor children, there was no need to submit birth certificates. We had minor children and brought their birth certificates, but they were not even reviewed. You don't need to bring your birth certificate or your Social Security card (Canadian or US).

Citizenship exam : French or English ?

The answer sheet is multiple choice or T/F where you fill in the circle to select your answer. There really is no language difference. The questions are in English and French. It's your choice which set you want to read. You are instructed to place the answer sheet inside the test booklet...

Lacking photo id originally used for application, exam/interview in two weeks

You're fine. My husband brought only his updated DL and health card without the expired cards. It's only an expired passport that you would have to bring.

Oath on the same day as the citizenship test

We had our test and oath on the same day in Montreal. In our test invitation was a special event notice on having the oath 2 hours later if we pass our tests and interviews. As a family application, the notice was important because we brought our kids to the test so they could be at the oath...

Canadian passports delivered in 10 business days

No, I'm not selling any... We just received our Canadian passports! I submitted the applications in person at a Passport office on a Saturday, and they were delivered at home in 10 business days (5 days before estimated delivery). Tips: 1) Try to go during the week. It was a long line on a...

Guess you're not a Seinfeld fan. I am very quiet. Do you know the meaning of quiet?

    Label documents in citizenship application

I would not have sent 2 copies of the same passport for a single applicant. By sending the 2nd set of records, both adult applications are complete without having to refer to the other application. My goal was to make it easier for them to review. In no way was I making a statement on their...

Sending additional documents with initial application (NOA, T4s, etc)

We only submitted what was requested. I've read that some people sent extra documents and still received the RQ asking for what had already been sent. So, maybe they don't even look at the extra documents. You can always have the documents prepared to be sent if you receive an RQ.

    Label documents in citizenship application

    1) I planned to mail our applications separately, but in the end, they were sent together. 2) I did not see in the official documentation that 1 set of education records was sufficient for a family application. I followed the document checklist per applicant. 3) I can afford to print out 2...

    Label documents in citizenship application

I don't know what you mean by an index card. The schools gave me copies of their report cards that included grades and attendance by class. For 1 child in 1 academic year, this could take up to 5 pages. These documents did have the signature of the principal. 5 pages * 5 academic years * 2...
