    In my case CSIS completed their processing in 3 months and sent their recommendation to CBSA in August 2023. 3 years later and CBSA have done nothing but put application on hold due to "verification activity" with external partners.

    I think it's related to security, because that's the only step remaining. Gcms notes show that CBSA are waiting for something from their external security partners but doesn't specify what exactly. CSQs were obtained in 2022 and all other steps (eligibility, criminality, medical) have passed.

    something similar happened to me - and gcms notes showed that application went from "In Progress" to "On Hold - Verification activity". this was back in Jan 2025. 18 months later and it's still on hold. I submitted the application in Nov 2021.

    You have to wait for IRCC to send you a letter confirming you passed eligibility as a sponsor and instructing you to apply for the CSQ.

    I'm in a similar situation. I applied in Nov 2021, and the background check started in May 2023 - it's been almost 3 years now. Everything else is completed except for security screening for 1 parent.

    It didn't do anything for us unfortunately, I tried last year. The application hasn't moved at all since then. I think I might have to try a writ of mandamus application as a last resort - even though I have very little faith it will work since CBSA has even less accountability than IRCC.

    Same boat - it has become depressing having no updates at all. GCMS notes showing no progress either - still stuck at security screening since May 2023.
