Exporting a Vehicle from the U.S. and Importing into Canada: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

You need form 2 in order to have the federal inspection done. It's a form that the RIV will release (will be send by mail) after they have received the Form-1 from the import process. Form-1 is supposed to be sent by CBSA but they told be it's better to take no chance and send it to them by email.

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

I found this golden nugget on an article from The Globe And Mail: The GST and duty will be based on the Canadian Red Book value of your car, says Viraf Baliwalla of the Automall Network, a Toronto-based car broker. If you've been a U.S. resident for a year or more – and you've owned the car for...

Someone told me the following: ''The only reason to properly export from the US is in case you intend to re-import it to the US. Otherwise it really doesn't matter. We did it but honestly...

Need to bring finance car to Canada for landing

Thanks for the quick response vreddy. I just called the insurance and they will cover me in Canada until the end of my policy here, which is a relief. Once I get title released, I can import. Thanks. One question remaining, is it essential to export it then?, especially since it would have to...

Need to bring finance car to Canada for landing

Hi, instead of starting a new thread, I'm going to piggy back this one since my situation is similar. Talked to my car loan company and they won't allow me to cross border with my car. I could pay off the balance but I wouldn't get the title in time. Unless I refinance with another bank but not...
