A wealth of info - much appreciated - I am checking into my province's health plan requirements as well and making sure it lines up with my vacation plans, as well as other benefits, thanks for clearly laying it out getting to the crux of the matter.

To not become a non-resident for tax purposes quesetion

Right so that's my point, there's no hard and fast rules - such like spending last 4 months of 2023 and first 4 months of 2024 abroad (so total 8 months, but what about 9 months, 10, or 11?) - where is the "cutoff"?- it's a gray area I believe for what reason I don't know (to scare you into not...

To not become a non-resident for tax purposes quesetion

Yeah thx it is purposely done in a gray area which is annoying. Found this: We often assist people in determining their tax residency under Canadian law. One question that often comes up is whether they have spent more than 183 days in the Country, as clients have often heard this term come up...

To not become a non-resident for tax purposes quesetion

Because it's much easier to file taxes, don't have to worry about forgetting to tell all the various agencies, benefits intact, etc. I know about deemed/factual resident, filling out NR73 / 74, etc. We will be vacationing in another country (still have home and belongings, car, etc. in Canada)...

To not become a non-resident for tax purposes quesetion

If I am a citizen and wife is PR, we want to go back to her home country for an extended time BUT keep our residency in Canada for tax reasons, I know the rule is 6 months in a calendar year. SO - in theory can we leave approx. 30 June 2023 and come back 29 June 2024 - and keep our residency...

Appl Q: Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and is 18 years or older?

Strange question when registering for TRV - Q: Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and is 18 years or older? Definition on IRCC: Family Member An applicant's closest relatives, in the context of an application to IRCC. It is defined as a spouse or...

Do I really need a super visa in my position?

Ok thanks very much, confirmed my thoughts. Follow up, would you say it's easier to apply for TRV or is it the same things they look at (incl income level)?

Do I really need a super visa in my position?

Thanks for advice, so then back to the original question, for her case does the normal TRV make more sense because it's less red tape (ie we having to prove income, long term health insurance, etc?)

Do I really need a super visa in my position?

Yes she lives there, thanks for the article, however the plan wasn't to come right now but in the future when this all clears up, but processing times are long, so thought to get a head start.

Do I really need a super visa in my position?

Wife has PR, I am a citizen. Wife's mother wants to come visit for about 2 months (China where you can get as much as 10 year normal TRV). Looking at all the application and processing time (280 days) for super visa, does it make sense to get it as compared to a normal TRV? She will never stay...

Super visa - Proof of income question

Ok thanks, and do you any idea about the nature of timing of the income (present and future)? I assume it will be accepted as it's better than having income in the past and not now - imagine hte scenario that a person worked in 2020 but got laid off and can't find a job til the present, to...

Super visa - Proof of income question

Sponsoring wife's mother in law for super visa. I've been self employed for the last 8 months or so and income is definitely under the threshold. However we bought a house in March 2021 and rental income alone will put us over the top... but of course that is not reported on our 2020 taxes (NOA)...

Baby born abroad - applied for proof citizenship 11 months ago, still nothing

I applied from China. Yes good advice to wait as I called IRCC again yesterday and this time the agent said that according to her calls she gets, it looks like Jan 2020 applicants are just getting AOR around now, so she said wait at least another month and then call back if no AOR. Question...

Thanks for letting me know, when did you apply? Curious because of Covid. Also when you emailed/called IRCC did they also say "not found", and at which month did you enquire?
