Impact of absences from Canada on PR renewal?

It's not a random question. It is a follow up to the question being discussed in a thread. Please feel free to ignore it

Impact of absences from Canada on PR renewal?

I have a question. While Canadian PR is on the basis of "days spent in Canada", US PR is on the basis of intention. A lot of following is probably a hypothetical. But, if you moved back to the US and then came back to Canada as a permanent resident (with intention to maintain the Canadian...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

Its perfectly legal to live in Canada and work in US. You don't need to hide anything.. After traveling between US and Canada almost every other week.. Normally the conversation with US CBP is like: "Purpose of visit" : I work in US at [insert company] "Why were you in Canada": I live in...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

So in B1/B2 you are allowed to meet clients. So, what people normally do is start an LLC in Canada and then use that LLC to pursue contract work in US. Then you are truthful in saying that "I am going to meet clients for meetings". That is legal. That is usually the hassle free route. Where you...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

Guys.. . I have literally hired my own accountant and an immigration attorney to help navigate through this. Either post with a citation or stop quoting me in the link. You dont have to follow the route as I did. Its your choice. Everyone is an adult here (I assume)

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

Wow.. that's a very strong allegation. 1) As far as I know, I am still a resident as per US laws (number of days in US + 1/3 number of days in US previous year + 1/6 number of days in US two years ago > some number of days). 2) You should read again. I own my only place in bay area. So, its not...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

I don't think so. I just asked this in avvo: https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/authorized/will-traveling-outside-us-cause-any-issues-in-h1b--4140007.html?answer_id=9092063#answer_9092063 and the response is consistent with what I got before. But I will be careful and double check at the right...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

I have thought about this a lot.. and it doesn't matter. The moment my petition is approved, I am going to step out of US into Canada and then I would have to go to the embassy to get a new stamp. So, it really doesn't matter. Sure, I can try for visa revalidation but its a hassle as it takes...

PRTD procedure for indian living in USA

I was able to drive to Canada but I did had a PRTD. I am not sure whether they checked it or not because if you have COPR, its pretty clear that you are a permanent resident but I am not sure. I would say just apply for PRTD asap and then you should be golden.

We are now talking of different issues... Let's stick to the thread.. your friend's h1b denial has nothing to do with the original question

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

From immigration purpose .. yeah.. it has nothing to do with that.. even if you are a US citizen and want to alter your work relationship by moving to a different country.. same rules apply.. I think we are saying the same thing.. Point being, moving out of US normally doesn't impact h1b

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

Yeah that makes sense. If H1B is denied then the primary relationship with your employer is terminated. You have to establish a new relationship. That can be joining India office, working as a contractor etc. You have to be taken off US payroll. Its not only taxes but companies have budgets and...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

I guess, when the time comes for an extension, then make sure that you are in US until the petition is approved (which should be ok under premium processing). But I am bit confused. He was on H1B working from India? Did USCIS denied his extension citing tax issues in India or was it HR? It seems...

Working remotely from Canada in US company as Canadian PR

I don't think that is correct. Literally, thousands of people drive to US from Canada daily and come back. Detroit/ Windsor, Seattle/Vancouver etc are all popular regions where thousands of people cross the border daily. As a PR, you don't have any obligation to work in Canada. If you don't...
