    H1B visa appointment availability

According to https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html, appointment wait time for Toronto is 70 days, but there is nothing even for January. Why would they charge in advance if there is no available date?

Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR) to enter USA

If I understand @harirajmohan correctly, online visa application and interview scheduled are not considered "pending new visa application", so until one attends the visa interview in the consulate they can use AVR. I am wondering if anyone has actually tested this in practice. I am trying to...

Most likely your photos were accepted and sent for production. This is because I didn't get "profile updated" status when the photos were rejected. Profile was updated after acceptance and once again after approval. Check your profile in the next 2 days to confirm. Applications are moving fast...

PhD student as a course instructor, NOC 4011 or 4021?

You are not a community/vocational college instructor (4021) though (one of its main duties is supervising teaching assistants). If you are teaching, then you are most likely hired as a university teaching assistant/associate while you are doing your PhD, not as a university instructor. 4012-...

No, as long as photos are of good quality. Not all Walgreens the same. Personally, I've tried 2 different Walgreens, but both photos of their photos got rejected. Their photo quality was worse than the one taken by an iPhone. We had to drive 1.5 hours one way to the nearest city to get a...

There was a typo in the house number of the address, so that explains the delay for us. I have updated the address and will call them later next week to check if spouse's PR card was sent back to them.

Just checked the status for the remaining PR cards we have been waiting for. Ghost update for the photos delivered Feb 14, 2019, less than a month after photos were delivered. Not bad.

My spouse's PR card was approved on 2/21 and we haven't received it yet, while mine was approved on 2/22 and I received it on 2/28. I'd give another 3-4 days before starting to worry about it.

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

Regarding to the 2nd point, I was told to apply for a visitor visa when I visited my family in the US who is working on H1b visa. I have a valid H4 visa, so I guess it depends on the officer. Now I am afraid to try to cross the border using H4 again and considering to apply for a visitor visa.

Citizenship, PR card (told them I haven't received), how much money did I spend while in the US, whether I purchased anything from a duty free store, where I was heading to in Canada. I think that's all.

Why not apply for expedited PR card if you have your ticket on hand? Someone wrote they got it pretty fast after requesting expedited processing and enclosing the air ticket (check a few pages earlier).
