Did you try obtaining a TRV so that your family can be together in Canada while you wait for the sponsorship to be approved? It is not a guarantee that you will get approved for a TRV but I believe you can try and request for it.

My CIC account still showing that my background verification is in progress and I did not get any PPR email. Even in the GCMS notes the status of my application is showing as In Progress.
