US Citizen, Independant Contractor for US company; living in Canada - Work & Tax Rules?

Hi Yarnmonger, I am in a very similar situation to your husband as far as my employment and taxes are concerned. I am wondering if you could let me know if the accountant you used was of much help in figuring out exemptions, etc. between the two countries and if so, would you be able to let me...

So I take it there was no issue with your spouse's identification, right?? Did you use passport and a piece of mail? Congrats!!

I guess it might just depend on the office - I'm in Ottawa and it seems like they usually tend to operate pretty smoothly when it comes to government-related appointments, etc. I'm sure yours will come soon!!

I received my "Permanent Residence Call in Notice" (aka landing interview letter) via email about 1 hour after seeing DM in ECAS. There was no attachment, just simply an email, which I plan to print up and bring with me as confirmation.

I have the same exact issue - we are planning to bring his passport and a letter he received from the CRA about his taxes that was sent to our current address. I truly hope this is enough! When is your landing interview? Mine is the 25th of June.

Does anybody know what can be used as "proof of cohabitation" at the landing interview? Our letter stated we need to bring proof, but my spouse doesn't have a driver's license - would a document from CRA or even phone bills with his name and our shared address on it suffice?? Anything else?

Hey everyone! Checked my ECAS this morning and it showed Decision Made on both sides, and an hour later, I received my landing interview email. No update in MyCIC yet. My timeline is below. May 1, 2017 : AOR (Schedule A and home country PCC submitted upfront) June 13, 2017: Received Open Work...

Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you, and it certainly gives the rest of us delayed applications hope. I'm tempted to get in touch my MP, but will likely wait until I'm at 14 months or so... Thanks for sharing your good news and good luck with the rest of the process!

Don't be sorry for ranting! One man's rant is another man's helpful information... Anyway, I totally feel for you - I am in essentially the same position, only waiting less time so far. I have a very strong feeling I will be going beyond 15 months, particularly because CIC so nicely decided to...

Just curious to know how many of you whose applications are past the 12 month mark have lived in other countries (aside from your home country) before coming to Canada? And for those of you have landed, but have lived in other countries (i.e., sent more than 1 police certificate), how far past...

I'll add that I've lived in 2 other countries (aside from my home country) before coming to Canada and seeing this confirms that it is the definitive factor in my application being delayed - however, I'm only 1 month delayed so far, so I'm sure I have much longer to wait (May 2017 applicant)! So...

Thanks for your reply, and sorry to hear you are still waiting. The original deadline for my PCCs was April 11th (they requested it March 13th - so less than a month to obtain and send in!), but they gave me an extension to June 1st. They are both submitted now as of May 25th, so at least I'm...

Does anybody have experience with submitting Police Clearance Certificates at the end of your timeline and how long it takes before you get DM/Landing Interview? I am a May 1st applicant, but since it took so long to get my PCC from another country I lived it, I couldn't send it in until May...

Today marks 1 year since CIC received my application (May 1). I received a message today saying: "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence" - forgive my ignorance, but this is "eligibility passed", correct? Unfortunately, I'm painfully...

I only have an open work permit, therefore there it is not connected to an employer in Ontario (and I work remotely for an employer in the US) - which is why I don't think it's enough. However, it does have my personal address listed on it, and it is proof from the government that I was deemed...
