Yeah, legitimately three minutes lol. I just handed the representative all the requested documentation (payment receipt, visitor extensions, work permit, husband's passport, my driver's license, and PR photos). She looked over everything, kept the work permit (as he no longer needs it being a...

Well, hubs got his PR card today. Exactly two weeks after our landing interview in Edmonton! I’m sorry so many other August applicants are stuck waiting for interviews to be rescheduled. If it helps relieve any of the stress, the landing interview is very low key and felt more like a formality...

Yikes. I figured it was coming. Can’t believe we managed to get in under the wire. Sorry to anyone this impacts, that sucks. For us, I’m hoping mail delivery is still in effect so we can get the card in the coming weeks and be completely done with everything.

It depends on how busy your office is. Our office in Edmonton contacted us within two weeks or so with a date and time. They will email the applicant, so make sure they check their email often and the junk folder too. It may take longer right now what with so many places shutting down due to the...

Yeah, our landing interview was in an office right across from a Service Canada so we just went there afterwards to update my husband’s SIN. He’ll have to give his new SIN to his work and bank too once we’re home. I feel lucky that we were able to get the interview done this week what with so...

We had our landing interview today in the Edmonton office. It went well, they actually close the office for lunch time so there was a bit of a line up to get in after but once the two representatives started seeing people it went quickly. Just bring physical copies of everything they ask for in...

The invitation letter doesn’t show up on ECAS or CIC, only in the applicant’s email.

Ours is Edmonton. Any Ottawa peeps in here able to confirm that their landing interview invitation letter also asks for proof of cohabitation?

Where’s your landing office? Maybe it’s just the template specific to that office.

No, ours doesn’t say that. Are you married or common-law? We’re married. Under notes, ours says: Ø If you are sponsored, your sponsor must be present for the interview and will need to provide photo identification. That’s it.

My husband (the applicant) got an email yesterday. I was surprised because it was the weekend but they do updates on weekends sometimes. CIC says the background check is still going and ECAS says decision made but the last update to it says they sent us correspondence Jan 21 (when they wanted a...

According to the Government of Canada website: "A temporary resident must apply to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. If they have done so, their period of authorized stay as a temporary resident is extended by law until a decision is made [R183(5)]. Such a person is...

IMO, the visitor visa date is what you want to go by. If his status has expired right now, because of the application you sent in, he's on implied status. But if they return that application, the implied status goes away, and that's when you would need the extension of the visitor visa...

You will receive AOR (Acknowledgment Of Receipt) via an email from CIC. I would apply for an extension ASAP. If your application is returned due to missing documents or signatures, he will have no status, and that's a real pain to contend with. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yep, same situation, just different countries. I'm glad you're able to get yours expedited, it sucks there's an extra cost. I sent our application to Virginia the fastest way possible with Canada Post (still took seven to eight days). That makes more sense. We got SA, AIP, and DM all on the...

The same thing happened to us. My husband is American and has been living in Canada for almost two years as a visitor, and the wording in the documentation makes it sound like if they've been in Canada for six months or more, they don't need a police check from their home country (if this is the...

Good news. That’s AIP. You should seen an update to your ECAS profile soon that says Decision Made instead of In Progress. Just hang tight and wait for the landing interview invitation. The Vancouver office apparently sometimes takes a while to issue these. Edmonton is the same way (that’s who...

Hubs went to the only doctor here who does immigration exams and paid $400. Then went to the hospital and got bloodwork and x-rays done, that was another $400, plus $20 additionally for the doctor note. Then we got invoiced for the blood work from Edmonton's blood lab, another $60. All told...

You're welcome. I can very much relate to the uncertainty and stress that comes with the process, so I try to help where I can. I'm curious as to why some people experience such a delay. You could try searching the forums here as well and seeing if you find others with similar experiences.
