I dont think its a big issue. You can file a return even if you dont have any income. The problem comes if you dont file when you were required to file a return. In your situation, the choice was yours if you wanted to file or not. Apparently, it seems that you were not required to file return...

The processing time is 12 months for all citizenship applications. I dont think our petition can do anything unless we dont hear from them in 12 months.
