Importing a car to Canada - some questions

So I just talked with US Customs and they said I'll need to head over to the port of entry to pickup a vehicle export package, get it filled out and leave it with them for 72hours? When I was researching, I thought I was able to fax them title, registration, and sales reciept and that should be...

Importing a car to Canada - some questions

So my wife has already landed and we now plan on importing her car. I went to the dealership to ask for a recall clearance letter, they said there was an actual recall on the car (for the spare tire) and they'll have to service it before releasing it/providing the letter. Anyways I was...

No matter what they need to live in the province for 3 months first. After 3 months, talk to your HR\benefits. They should be able to get your spouse signed onto your company benefits (including the care card.)

Filing taxes for my wife [US citizen, now Canadian resident]

If you don’t mind me asking, do you plan on continue to file taxes for the rest of your lives? What about your kids, they will technically also be subject to filing taxes to America. Have you thought about your plans for the future? I’m not one to be against taxes or anything nor do I have...

Filing taxes for my wife [US citizen, now Canadian resident]

Yes I am referring to that. Did you use electronic software to file? The problem persists because it asks you what the spouse's SIN is? And in this case since I'm a Canadian. I actually don't have one?

Filing taxes for my wife [US citizen, now Canadian resident]

My wife has become a Canadian permanent resident recently at the end of last year. She has been working in the US all fo 2012 so she will need to file taxes. I was wondering if there should be any problems of me just filing her as "single" and not married. Turbotax seems to extend the...

This is awesome. Sorry, my mistake then. I don't know why I had in my notes that we had to fill out an application for PR card.

Landing on the 23rd. Did the process change?

Hi, Landing the 23rd. Did the process change? I was initially following all the landing process' experience posts but I noticed the whole Canadian immigration website has changed. Basically it says, show up with: - COPR - (2) x List of items entering on the date of entry (b4) - (2) x List of...

Can spouse still work abroad after landing?

Sounds good. I don't mind filing taxes for both countries. I doubt she'll have a high income in the next year so she shouldn't be taxed. Question though, when she's re-entering Canada. She won't have her PR card yet. Although she will have her Nexus. Will this be a problem?

Can spouse still work abroad after landing?

Hi, Quick question, my wife will need to land earlier then expected due to the expiration date on her PR. Since we both live fairly close to the border, is it possible for her to continue working in the US for 2 more months after she has landed in Canada? I assume this is a no no, but I just...

Okay, that makes sense. Since I got a police clearance document request from Ottawa Pilot Program, is it safe to assume my application is in Ottawa and hasn't been forwarded abroad? I have been approved as the sponsor, and my wife's application is being evaluated currently.
