I received my landing Interview letter via Email on Saturday June 15th. My landing interview at the Etibocoke office is July 2nd. :D

That's great. Unfortunately (timing wise) my son turned 18 in October. Last news I had about 3 or 4 weeks ago is they had just initiated a background check on him. I have AIP. Once his background check goes through, we should get DM.

You don't have to have a visa to visit. A flight without a return trip is a different story. Keep in mind if Canada refuses you entry the airline is on the hook for sending you home. If you don't have a return trip they are on the hook for the cost.

It's possible without a visa, the airline won't let you board a oneway flight. I had to go out of the country recently, when I went to board my flight home, they required my work permit before they would give me a boarding pass. If I hadn't had it they would have made me buy a return ticket...

Redo your OWP application and send it off again with the correct fees. Someone else will be able to answer for sure, but you might be able to apply for a OWP online now. Best of luck.
