For passport submission, you don't need the book an appointment. you can go to any VFS office and submit your passport.

We submitted the passports on 25 Nov at the Lahore office and received today at 11 Dec by FedEX.

I got the credential email after 8 days from the Calgary office

Did you get any reply from them? Try to call them I also got a portal email on the 4th of Nov and waiting for the Credential email. I am also a CEC applicant with dependents outland (Pakistan).

In this whole process, I did not receive any ghost update. However, my background status on my profile changed to "we are processing your background" on Nov 3 which I checked randomly because I did not receive any status change email.
