Same here, I have applied with affidavit along with LOE explaining the reasons and attached all other relevant documents to proof the relationship.

I have the same issue, don't have marriage certificate and planning to submit an affidavit along with the LOE and request for extension. But with the extension, not sure even we can travel and arrange the marriage certificate due to this COVID issue. I did lot of research for an alternative but...

LOE - Letter of Explanation. I have affidavit prepared in India but thinking to have new one prepared by Local Lawyer. Honestly speaking, not idea weather that will work or not. So I suggest to do more research in this regard and that's what I am doing.
