In such cases you must have provided them with complete passport photocopy and should have waited till the passport request. Now you can just wait and see hopefully they wont take long.

For student permit applying from UAE you do not submit your passport but the photocopies of whole passport, also for your residence visa you can submit any supporting document such as salary certificate or similar from school.
