Another question about stat dec of common law union

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write this very comprehensive and thoughtful answer. It was helpful to give me additional context on some of these questions. My partner is well below 1095 days outside of Canada (more like ~130) so we said no for question 5.3 Again...

Another question about stat dec of common law union

Amazing. Thank you so much. I wish I asked sooner as I already started gathering a bunch of supporting docs this morning but I’m going to stop right there and just claim as time outside. Amazing, thank you so much. I wish I asked sooner as I already started gathering supporting docs this...

Another question about stat dec of common law union

Oh that's such great insight! So, to confirm and ensure I'm clear on this, he would answer: Have you travelled or lived outside Canada in the past five (5) years? - YES 5.3 Have you been accompanying a Canadian citizen who is your spouse or common-law partner or, in the case of a child, your...

Another question about stat dec of common law union

Oh, very interesting. When filling out form IMM 5444, question asks: "5.3 Have you been accompanying a Canadian citizen who is your spouse or common-law partner or, in the case of a child, your parent, while you were absent from Canada?" I answered 'yes' to this question as my partner (who is...

Another question about stat dec of common law union

Applying for my partner's PR card renewal. We had a stat dec of common-law union signed back in 2017 when we first applied for his PR. Can I just use that same declaration as part of our 'proof of relationship' supporting docs for his PR renewal application? We are still common-law (I'm also...

    Inquiry about PR card renewal

Hi there, just helping my partner fill out his PR renewal online, and I'm a bit confused about the "Time Spent Outside Canada" section. All of his time spent outside Canada has been with me (a Canadian citizen) for vacations. Would he choose option B (accompanying Canadian citizen who is...

Landing experience + flying without ETA

Hi all - just wanted to share my landing experience & an issue we ran into at the airport. My partner received his COPR recently and we planned to do our landing at YVR upon our return to Canada from a recent trip. It clearly states on the CIC website, if you have a COPR you do not need an eTA...

    COPR & Travelling

Thank you! I also printed out the CIC page to bring with us. Hopefully that along with the CoPR and a work permit will suffice :) Thanks for clarifying re: the landing. I couldn't find any information as to whether it was mandatory to land once you exit and re-enter Canada..I didn't know if it...

    COPR & Travelling

Thanks for that link, that answers my first question. So we do not need an eTA. I am just unsure about the landing - if we can hold off until later in August or if we will be "forced" to do it when we return to Canada from the USA in a couple. weeks

    COPR & Travelling

Hi - I made a similar post a while back but now that we have COPR in hand I want to clarify, so forgive me if this is a double post. -My common law partner received COPR yesterday -We applied Outland, but my partner is currently living in Canada on a work permit -He holds an Australian...

    Process for common-law partner sponsorship

Wouldn't worry then, I am sure you would be exempt since it's over 10 years. And no.. not a prereq to obtaining police check. We obtained ours without the traffic history. I would also assume you don't have to worry about it!

    PR Landing

Have not yet received COPR. PPR docs were only just received May 28, so hopefully will get COPR in next couple weeks or so.

    Process for common-law partner sponsorship

We also applied as common-law to sponsor my Aussie partner. Not sure if you live in Victoria, or ever lived there - but one of the additional documents that they requested of us was a full traffic history for Victoria (my partner lived there for about 6 months, 8 or 9 years ago and had included...

    PR Landing

Our COPR should be issued soon and we are also travelling in June. Was planning on applying for an eTA (my partner is currently on a work permit but he has gotten a new passport recently, so will need a new eTA) and then doing the landing upon return to Canada. Is this a logical idea? He won't...

    PPR and travel question-need advice!

Ah, okay. That’s annoying about the photos but oh well, not the biggest problem to have! So we can’t fly without the PR card once we’ve landed.. good to know. Can we fly with COPR before we land and then land upon return to canada? Or is COPR not sufficient and we would need the eTA? We will...

    PPR and travel question-need advice!

Ok, so I just re-read the sentence and it says "If you are currently residing in Canada.... required to obtain eTA" so that answers my question about if he can apply for an eTA from within Canada. Duh. But still confused about what we should be doing in this scenario. Just apply for the eTA...

    PPR and travel question-need advice!

Hi all: received PPR yesterday (yay!) and just a couple questions: 1. Tried searching but couldn't find an answer - out of curiousity, why do they request 2 photos again (same specifications) when these were included with our original application package? What was the point of getting those...
